Just over two weeks ago we closed on our new house and moved all of our stuff in. Unpacking is going slowly, and much of the house still looks like the aftermath of some sort of disaster…but most of our books are unpacked and arranged on the shelves, so things are looking up! In celebration, here are some shelfies (please ignore any bits of disaster area that you can see around the edges):
Congrats!
Take care of the most important stuff first!

Thank you. A bibliophile has to have his priorities…still waiting on a new bookcase to finish shelving the books in my office at work.

Ugh. In all the moves, I gave up and let go of most of my books. I still have some select ones in a bookcase at work.

Is that bookshelf behind the bed part of the bedframe? I’ve seen book bedframes before and have always wanted one, but the price, forget about it!
And your designation of “old books” made me laugh ๐

Yes, the headboard is a bookshelf, and is one of the more expensive pieces of furniture in the house thanks to a tax return one year. To be on the “old” shelf a book has to be at least 60 years old (a couple newer ones may have slipped in if they were pretty enough, and a lot of of them are more in the 85-120 year old range)…no genre requirements so no other designation ๐

Man, I am totally coveting that headboard right now. It looks just as cool as the pix on websites show it to be.
Thanks for the explanation ๐

Thanks! It’s still pretty chaotic with new home & new job, but we’re loving it.

Once they’re all in place I’ll have to take some of the bookshelves in my office…those shelves have random toys scattered around them.

Your shelves are so organized! My “Shelves” are my linen closet and wherever else I can stash my books because I’ve long since run out of real shelf space.

Once the personal library grew past a certain point I figured I’d better have some sort of system so that I could find what I was looking for. The books in my office are even more organized with a modified Dewey Decimal system developed by one of my seminary professors. …and I do have some stacks of “I don’t have anywhere to put these” books around the house and office as well ๐
