Title: A Christmas Carol
.
.
Author: Charles Dickens
Genre: Classic Fiction
Rating: 5 of 5

Charles Dickens may have possessed all the wordiness, sentimentality and tendency to “purple prose” that come with being Victorian (and getting paid by the installment), but that man could write compelling characters…and this is some of his best! If your only experience with A Christmas Carol is movie adaptations, you are missing out on a wealth of warm, beautiful character development (and, of course, cutting social commentary on the responsibilities of the “haves” to help the “have nots”…though that part mostly makes it into the movies).

Even if you’re not a big fan of Dickens you should give this a shot; what better time for Victorian sentimentality and a call to Christian love than Christmas?

      1. Ok, then I’m going to unfollow you at Booklikes. I don’t mind following people at different sites, just not following the same people at multiple sites. It can make conversations a nightmare 🙂
